
This image came fairly easily--or as easily as any of them come. It began with a photograph I took while camping with my daughter. It was a beautiful evening: the clouds were stacked in crazy formations and the light was dancing its way over the landscape and through the trees. I cropped the photo to a square format, and then made several sketches to capitalize on the drama of the piece. I want the viewer to "feel" the evening, not just see it. For this reason I simplified the foreground and tree line and had the clouds really pop out with their intense, warm coloring. At 36 x 36, it is fairly easy to be enveloped by the painting without it taking over the room in which it hangs. For more information or to join my mailing list, please visit my website:
