This is an oil painting. Approaching the Sanibel Lighthouse from this direction on the pathway, I relished in the colorful, late afternoon skies. What a glorious site and an interesting vantage point of the lighthouse with the dappled sunlight peeking through the trees and onto the shell path.

Growing up in a small coastal state with a large family was always an adventure. We would take family rides, maybe for an ice cream cone, to pick apples or dig quahogs. Often this brought us to the beautiful coastal waters. I always found myself drawn to this particular spot on the bay and I wondered about the house beyond this magnificent stone arched entrance. I found this little pink cottage tucked away next to the water. This, I thought, would be a wonderful place to paint. With it's lovely charm and surroundings it would be a great environment to keep those creative juices flowing.
