Winter Hideout 12 x 12 This painting clearly was not done "plein air" as it has been over 100 degrees here for some time now. I have been playing with this image on and off for some time and finally manage to get something down in oil. In my "snow scenes" I always try to strike a balance between the stark of winter and the warmth. This scene shows the warmth of the sun on the trees but also the implied warmth of the cabins.
