detail

This is a demo painting I started in my recent workshop at Camp McDowell in Alabama.

Mixed media abstract collage, "Billboard 6" © Carol Nelson Fine Art

This vibrant abstract has many papers collaged into it.  The main vertical column of papers, slightly right of center, is made using my "sandwich technique", which I teach in workshops around the country, and on my video, "New Approaches to Mixed Media Materials."

Rosy Glow, 10x10 mixed media collage by Carol Nelson

This is another in my series of tree collages. I often teach this type of collage work in my workshops and private instruction. Their color, values, balance, and variety of materials keeps these collages fresh and ever-challenging for me.
