I am posting the progressive stages of a painting of a historic home in Augusta, Georgia. My intent is to help you understand the creative process. Before I toned the canvas I did a pencil sketch of the subject matter in my sketchbook. While drawing I decided on the composition for the painting and noted my light , medium, and dark values of the painting.
