Contemporary Abstract Landscape Painting "MOON WINDOW" by Contemporary Realism Artist Carol A. McIntyre

"Moon Window" was painted immediately after I painted "The Blue Beyond." I had been wanting to paint moonscapes for a long time and finally the idea caught up with me. Surprisingly, the first layer of this painting was various reds and this underpainting provides the glow. Most people would not expect reds and orange-reds to be the colors to use to set off the moon light, yet it does provide the depth. It is also interesting to see how these warm colors set the stage to rest of the painting. What are your reactions to the reds?

My “Windows into Your Imagination” series will be featured in the new Silver Street Fine Art Gallery opening Sat., June 25th in beautiful Lake City, CO, which is an old silver mining town. Gallery is open seasonally from June 25-September 24th. All featured paintings will be available for sale.

Contemporary Abstract Landscape Painting "Evening's Keep" by Contemporary Realism Artist Carol A. McIntyre

Colorado's landscape is filled with many different geological formations. This outcropping of rocks was discovered while out 'chasing' the golden aspen leaves one fall. I imagined the sun set and combined it with these rocks.

Note that the perspective is slightly off. Why? How does it make you feel?

"Evening's Keep," was chosen by well-known art critic Brian Sherwin, to be featured in the  FASO Daily Art Show!

Contemporary Abstract Landscape Painting"Enchanting Web" by Contemporary Realism Artist Carol A. McIntyre

"Enchanting Web" began as an inspiration from the feeling of a wave and surfing 'down the pike' while being greeted by the serenity of the placid sea. The web idea ~ or net ~ added more intrique to the image the more I painted. My goal is to pull you into the painting ~ to make you stop and dream/think/feel. But the original 'box' felt too confining and I had to integrate the shapes all the way to the edges of the painting.
After all, who wants to stay within a box while out dreaming or surfing life? The colors were chosen to enhance the feeling of fantasy because these colors are not frequently found in nature.

Contemporary Abstract Landscape Painting "KENTE MOON MAGIC" by Contemporary Realism Artist Carol A. McIntyre

"Moonlight Magic with Kente Cloth Patterns," is a commissioned painting for an engineer's office. She wanted very specific elements in the painting, such as: moonlight over the Vernazza, Italy, peninsula, mango tree and mangoes, Kente cloth patterns, a beach and a sense of calm with lots of color. What do you think, did I do it?

Contemporary Abstract Landscape Painting "Moon Passages" by Contemporary Realism Artist Carol A. McIntyre

"Moon Passages," was inspired by a recent long hike I took through a park in eastern Colorado  called the Painted Mines. Most of clay, sand and stones are white, tan or pink. It is similar to  walking through a shallow canyon. Fascinating formations are everywhere.

The paths are dry creeks, hence I added the driftwood. Also, the full moon seemed to add just  the right touch of mystery to the place. During our hike, we came across many wildflowers.  The white primrose was rare, therefore a lovely surprise to discover on our travels.

Contemporary Abstract Landscape Painting "Lunar Glow" by Contemporary Realism Artist Carol A. McIntyre

A trip to the island of Hawaii provided the inspiration for "Lunar Glow."  Earlier in the year I had started to become enamored with taking photographs of the full moon which I in turn used for reference photos. This calling continued while on Hawaii but required getting up in the middle of the night to take photographs.

I found it surprising that I never needed an alarm clock to awaken 2-3 times a night for 3 nights to take in the quiet and intrigue of the full moon gleaming over the rocky shoreline. At the hour, it was awe inspiring and you could feel a oneness with the world.
Though I used fairly intense colors, do you still feel a sense of wonder and tranquility? What feelings does this painting conjure up for you?

Contemporary Abstract Landscape Painting "ALICE'S KEY" by Contemporary Realism Artist Carol A. McIntyre

Puzzle pieces make me smile, how about you?

Deep into my "Window Within a Window" series of paintings, I imagined that a missing puzzle piece could easily be conveyed as a window. Then opening up a piece as if it were a door added more intrigue. What memories or feelings come up when you look at this whimsical painting? What could be behind the door? What is beyond the open window?

Tapping your imagination and your curiosity is one of my objectives.
Did I achieve that in "Alice's Key?"

This painting is gallery wrapped, which means it does not need to be framed and is ready to hang.
